With the recent redesign of the MDX, Acura has added a hybrid model that will go on sale this April. Powered by a 3.0-liter V6, the Hybrid model will have a 31-hp advantage over the standard model for a total of 321 hp and 289 lb-ft of torque, in addition to a 45 percent improvement in the EPA city fuel-economy ratings, which weigh in at combined 27 mpg.
The MDX Sport Hybrid features not one but three electric motors as a part of its hybrid system, which, along with the gasoline engine, channel power to all four wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.

The pricier Advance package offers second-row captain's chairs, as opposed to the three-seat bench in the Technology package. Both trims will offer premium interior items, including wood interior accents and stainless-steel sport pedals. The Technology package has seating for seven, while the Advance package provides seating for six -- it replaces the second row three-seat bench with two captain's chairs and a large center console.
The Sport Hybrid version of the MDX will also offer active dampers, an electric servo braking system and four different driving modes -- all items that won't be found in the standard gasoline-engined models -- with the Integrated Dynamics System using nine different systems in the vehicle to offer a greater range of selectable driving characteristics for the driver.
